There are very much folks out there that don't really seem like the "gamer type" or maybe just don't have a lot of experience playing games, but have the personalities that would easily take to deeper and more "difficult" games if they're introduced. It feels like there's a bit of "gamedar" (if you'll forgive my pun) in figuring out which games to introduce, with whom, and when. I'll check out meetup and see what's in my area. Unfortunately like some of you have mentioned I dont really meet weekly to play but I wouldn't be opposed to finding s group that does. I think I'm going to just let them enjoy Betrayal for the time being and see if I can find others that are more into exploring new and different games. Thank you everyone for the advice you all have been sharing. Also I apologize if I selected the wrong flair.ĮDIT: Holy crap this blew up more than I was expecting. Do you guys have any advice on getting people to try new games or stories similar to what I'm going through? I'd love to hear from you guys. I've been hoping to get them eventually up to where they may be willing to try something with a bit more depth like fury of dracula or eldritch horror but it doesn't look viable. The rules and mechanics are simple but they just dismiss it with it looks complicated or sounds complicated when I explain the rules even with a demonstration. Some examples of games I've tried to show them that are simple are Ticket to Ride, and Battle Wizards Duel at mount Skullzfyre. I try to bring over stuff that's relatively simple for people who don't play board games and I'm starting to feel like they're just saying a game looks/ is complicated out of laziness. To add a bit of variety every once in a while I've been bringing over some other games along with Betrayal. One of the first games I introduced was Betrayal at House on the Hill and it wound up being a hit. I have some friends that I have slowly been introducing more modern board games to. I'm going to apologize in advance if this runs a bit long.

The simplest use is to bold game names in your comment and add " /u/r2d8 getinfo" at the end of the post, but this post/sub has other features identified.

You'll see people using bold to highlight games, that gives the opportunity to interact with /u/r2d8, a bot that can be used to grab data from BGG on games included in a post.
